Abstract

This commentary article explores how telehealth has revolutionised medical care by extending its reach and efficacy, particularly in emergency pre-hospital settings. The integration of telemedicine through mobile telecommunications and video-to-video communication has been advantageous for both paramedics and patients. These technologies enable real-time consultations, enhance diagnostic accuracy, and allow for early interventions, which are vital in acute emergencies such as strokes and myocardial infarctions. Despite the promising benefits, challenges such as the need for robust infrastructure and limitations of traditional communication systems persist. As technological advancements continue, the potential for telehealth to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes grows, emphasising the necessity for ongoing investment and innovation in this field.
